DigitEasel Art

One day in my writing workshop, I was doodling on a piece of scrap paper as I listened to a member read his short story. The result: a very crude drawing. (Not that kind of crude!) I thought, You know what, I can make this into a nice DigitEasel picture. DigitEasel? Now what the heck is that? Anyhow, I decided to scan the drawing and use it as the basis of a computer painting.

For years I've been doodling! Well, who hasn't! And I used to combine a bunch of doodles
into a unified piece:

But this new form was something different.

I don't have the crude drawing anymore. And the piece evolved into a younger beauty queen type with a tall, tall hate and then to this:

I admit that after this I went a little crazy with the DigitEasel concept..

The picture at the top started as a charcoal drawing approximately fifty years ago! Back when I was a mere child (Actually, in my 20s), I did the drawing for my Aunt Martha who had a cat named Midnight. Five decades later, I scanned the drawing, added a few other elements and painted it digitally.

Some of the DigitEasel pictures come from my imagination:

This piece actually is the first example of DigitEasel art that I sold, so it's no longer available. But, hey, just let me know if you'd like a Mexican general or sergeant or private or...

Some come from models:

All are one of a kind! That is, there will not be prints or copies,
except maybe for illustrations in books or on my website.
